Where It All Started

CORSA International Convention

July 23-24, 2007

Part 1:  On the Way

The CORSA International Convention seems less of a big deal for me this year, as it's less of an ordeal for us to drive an hour and a half to get here.  I'm not complaining but it does take some of the adventure out of the trip.  It doesn't matter, though, because we are having a great time, anyway.

The convention for us this year started Monday evening at our new home, which is nearing completion.  We had a number of West Michigan Corvair Club members stop by to tour the new place on their way to Waterford Hills for the NECC time trials.

We followed them across the state Tuesday afternoon.  I think there's some sort of weird speedo curse associated with my Corsa convertible and CORSA International Conventions.  Last year on our way to Buffalo the odometer in the convertible died.  I got a rebuilt speedometer and put three hundred miles on it before this week.  On our way over here, the needle stuck and no longer works.  I am planning on using the GPS for the rally.  I am sure that will disqualify me but I don't care, as we do the rally for scenery more than anything else.

We got here Tuesday too late to go to the welcome party.  We went to check into the Super 8 across the street from the host hotel where I had reserved our rooms, and they told us our rooms were flooded due to a water main break.  They had reserved rooms for us down the street at Quality Inn, where there was a pool, so we figured we couldn't complain.
